Former President Obama endorses 13 candidates in Colorado races

Former President Barack Obama tweeted his “first wave” of endorsements for midterm races around the county Wednesday, including 13 races in Colorado.

The 44th president endorsed candidates for all of Colorado’s statewide races as well as several state house and state senate races that will be decided in November.

Obama tweeted his support for the following candidates

  • Jared Polis (D) Running for governor
  • Dianna Primavera (D) Running for Lt. Governor
  • Phil Weiser (D) Attorney General
  • Jena Griswold (D) Secretary of State
  • Tammy Story (D) State Senate District 16 (Golden, Evergreen, Conifer)
  • Jessie Danielson (D) State Senate District 20 (Wheat Ridge)
  • Brittany Pettersen (D) State Senate Dsstrict 22 (Lakewood)
  • Faith Winter (D) State Senate District 24 (Westminster)
  • Dylan Roberts (D) State House District 26 (Steamboat Springs)
  • Dafna Michaelson Jenet (D) State House District 30 (Aurora, Thornton, Commerce City)
  • Shannon Bird (D) State House District 35 (Westminster)
  • Rochelle Galindo (D) State House District 50 (Greeley)
  • Julie McCluskie (D) State House District 61 (Aspen, Hotchkiss, Crested Butte)

The former president did not endorse any state house or state senate candidate running for office in the News 5 viewing area. The former president also did not endorse any candidates running for the U.S. House of Representatives in Colorado. However, he did endorse candidates running for U.S. House in other states Wednesday morning.

He also endorsed candidates in California, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.
