DENVER – Joe Biden will receive Colorado’s nine electoral votes after defeating President Donald Trump in the Centennial State, according to ABC News.

ABC News called the race in Colorado for the Democratic former vice president around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday as he led President Trump 60%-38%, with 39% of precincts reporting.

The call on Biden’s victory had been mostly expected in a state that Trump lost by five points to Hillary Clinton in 2016 and which has only turned bluer in the years since.

Biden had also led Trump by wide margins in polling in Colorado in recent days and weeks – often by double-digit margins.

The president has never been seen favorably by the majority of Coloradans, according to polling done over the past four years by Keating Research. In March 2017, a poll found 43% of Coloradans who viewed the president favorably compared to 55% who viewed him unfavorably – a high mark for the president in polling from the firm.

But when the same question was most recently asked by the firm in October 2020, just 39% of respondents said they viewed the president favorably compared to 60% who said they viewed him unfavorably.

Trump held a campaign rally alongside Sen. Cory Gardner in Colorado Springs in February after the two endorsed one another for re-election.
