President Donald Trump announced on Twitter Tuesday night that the stimulus bill passed by an overwhelming majority of Congress on Monday was not suitable, and he called on Congress to dramatically increase the amount of direct aid to individuals.

Now, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is calling on the Republican leadership to work with Democrats to raise the dollar amount of the direct payments in the relief package.

Should he have signed the stimulus bill as it is? Voting has closed for this poll — here are the results:

  • 88% voted no
  • 12% voted yes

Watch for another poll this Thursday afternoon that we will follow and review starting at News5 at 4 p.m.

Pelosi said in a letter to House Democrats on Wednesday that she will go to the floor and ask for unanimous consent to bring a standalone bill that would increase the individual payments from $600 to $2,000, which Trump requested in a video released on Twitter.
