ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. – Two girls who were reportedly abducted by their non-custodial mother in Arapahoe County earlier Monday afternoon have been found safe more than four hours after they were reported missing by the sheriff's office.

The girls were allegedly abducted from the 7400 block of E. Arkansas Avenue by their non-custodial mother, Kassandra Arzola, 24, the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said in a tweet just before 5 p.m. Monday.

The woman has a criminal history of assault, theft, drug violations, among others, a spokesperson with the sheriff's office said.

Just before 9:30 p.m., Arapahoe County deputies said the twins had been found safe and were waiting for their dad to pick them up. The spokesperson said they were found in Denver. Their mother was released, pending charges, deputies said.

They also thanked the community for spreading the word on social media.

"This is the best outcome possible," the sheriff's office said.
