Texas man arrested in connection with shooting death at KOA Campground

PUEBLO — A 30-year-old Texas man has been arrested in connection with a shooting death at a campground north of Pueblo.

According to the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to reports of shots fired at the KOA Campground at 4131 N. Interstate 25 around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Deputies arrived and found a man lying on the ground near a vehicle and discovered he had been shot in the head. The 30-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Pueblo County coroner identified the man as Michael Patrick Mack.

Deputies found Evan Gaw in a nearby field and arrested him for second-degree murder. He has been booked into the Pueblo County Jail.

Deputies said Gaw and the victim had rented a camping spot at the campground for the night.

This is being investigated as a homicide.
