COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has lifted a shelter-in-place order for people in the area of the La Quinta Inn near North Academy Boulevard and Voyager Parkway.
According to CSPD, they were dispatched for a disturbance at the La Quinta Inn around 3:45 p.m. Thursday. They say a women had a restraining order against a man, later identified as 22-year-old Carlos Martinez there.
CSPD says the reporting party said Martinez was armed, however, only an air soft gun was recovered at the scene.
The alert was issued Thursday around 4:40 p.m. and was lifted around 8 p.m. Thursday.
According to police, Martinez hid in a crawl space in the hotel, and they used chemical irritants to get him out. Martinez was taken into custody around 7:15 p.m.
Martinez had several outstanding warrants, and CSPD says he is now facing the following additional charges:
- menancing
- robbery
- criminal mischief
