COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KOAA) — The El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO) is investigating an officer-involved shooting between one man and at least one officer with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).
According to a CSPD press briefing, CSPD officers were searching for a wanted man when they found him in a car near the 1100 block of Branding Iron Circle.
When they commanded him to exit the car, he refused and retrieved a gun. Police say he fired at least one round at officers, and at least one officer fired one round back.
The suspect died from their injuries.
EPSO has taken over the investigation, and police say that no one else was injured in the incident.
Police have not specified what the person was wanted for.
This is an ongoing investigation, and we will release more information as it becomes available.

The Colorado Springs City Council will get its first look at the proposed 2026 budget on Monday morning. The city is expecting a $31 million shortfall for the 2026 budget year as revenues fall flat in 2025 and expenses for the city are increasing.
