COLORADO SPRINGS — The El Paso County Coroner's Office have identified the woman who was killed inside a residence in southeastern Colorado Springs.
On March 19 at approximately 3:43 p.m. Colorado Springs police received a report of a shooting in the 1900 block of La Salle Street. When they arrived on scene, they found a woman dead inside the home.
She has been identified as 19-year-old Annie Acevedo-Hernandez.
According to detectives, the victim's husband, 20-year-old Victor Esquivel, was handling a rifle inside of the residence when it discharged, killing the victim.
He has been charged with manslaughter and is currently booked into the EL Paso County Jail.
This is the 14th homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2020. The Colorado Springs Police Department investigated three homicides at this time last year.
