Woman in northeast Colorado Springs homicide identified

COLORADO SPRINGS — News5 now knows the name of the woman who was found dead at a home in the 6000 block of Bow River Drive on Sunday afternoon.

After completing an autopsy, The El Paso County Coroner's office is identifying the woman as 39-year old Jennifer Young.

The coroner is ruling her death as a homicide.

The spouse of the victim, 42-year old Fredrick Young, is in police custody and is booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on charges of First Degree Murder.

Jennifer Young’s death is the 19th homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2019. At this time last year, there had been 26 homicides in the city.

Court documents said Jennifer Young and her husband went to a wedding reception over the weekend. Friends reported him appearing jealous at the party

Investigators said it appears she was beaten to death.
