Witness who came forward in Security fire charged with arson, deputies say

SECURITY — A man who came forward as a witness to a structure fire in Security has been arrested for arson Sunday, according to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said 28-year-old Tre Montez Williams came forward and claimed to be a witness. Authorities later determined through surveillance video he is now considered a suspect in the fire that damaged two homes.

The sheriff's office said deputies arrived to the 100 block of Security Boulevard around 7:20 p.m. and helped people get out of their homes in the area of the fire.

Williams is facing charges of first-degree arson, criminal mischief $20K to less than $100K, criminal mischief $5K to less than $20K, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
