COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado State Fair is full of different competitions for a variety of different events, but for a quilter, the competition is decades in the making.

Jill Jespersen earned the top prize in her quilting class. Between finding the right pieces and moving around the country, her butterfly quilt took almost 27 years to complete.

"Everybody has loved the design, but to actually have the quilty judges judge it, to have great quality in all the aspects that they look at, that's been really exciting," Jespersen said.

She says once the fair is over she is going to keep it and hang it somewhere in her house.
