PUEBLO — Volunteers are helping Pueblo Police with their homeless outreach efforts.

The Volunteers Assisting Pueblo Police group raised $18,000 from a golf tournament last year along with a matching state grant. The money will be used to purchase two ATVs and trailer to help police help the homeless.

"Even the people camping along Fountain Creek are still part of the Pueblo community and the Pueblo Police Department needs to be able to reach those folks in an emergency situation and it helps tremendously with our responsiveness in ability to perform that task," Volunteer Coordinator Stuart Bastin said.

The group hopes to vie these vehicle to the department by the first of August.
