Victim identified in a suspicious death in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS — The El Paso County Coroner's Office has identified the victim killed in on east Monument Street on Sunday.

Just before 7 a.m. Sunday, November 3, the Colorado Springs Police Department received a report of a man on the ground in the 2300 block of east Monument Street.

CSPD said when officers arrived they found 20-year-old Xavier Padilla with serious injuries. Padilla was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

This is the 21st homicide investigation in Colorado Springs in 2019. At this time last year the city had 29 homicides.
