COLORADO SPRINGS — This Labor Day, some of the men and women responsible for the holiday gathered to enjoy a day off.
Members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers union gathered in Acacia Park Monday for a picnic and they were joined by other union workers and anyone else who wanted to enjoy a bite.
"Today we're just giving back to this community that's given so much to organized labor. We're bringing together all the unions to host a free BBQ and have a good time," said Ken Schauer, President of the Colorado Springs Labor Council.
The event is usually held indoors but organizers said they decided to get outside this year and were thankful it turned out to be such a beautiful day.
