COLORADO SPRINGS — The construction project on Union Blvd, between N. Academy & Woodmen Rd, has been under construction for months, but is now almost completed.

Colorado Springs Utility has been replacing aging infrastructure, which includes water mains that have been breaking, on the road.

CSU is expecting to make the last 'tie-in' to the system on Tuesday.

After that, the city crews will start the pre-overlay concrete work & finally repave the whole road as part of the 2C repaving project.

"Our relationship with Colorado Springs Utilities has never been at a higher level," said Corey Farkas, the Colorado Springs Public Works Ops & Maintenance Division Manager. "We speak with them often and work with them closely to make sure that not only their infrastructure is being repaired but also the roadway. So again, rate payer - tax payer, it's the same people and we want to make sure we're doing the right things."

Farkas adds the paving operations will begin in late October.
