PUEBLO — If you would like to make a child's Christmas special this year, you can do so by dropping off a toy at the Pueblo Mall in their Toys for Tots bins!
Those bins are located throughout the mall and the toys they collect will to children in Pueblo County.
Toys for Tots has been making an impact in the lives of children in need for more than 73 years. The organization began in 1947 as the brain child of Marine Corps reserve major Bill Hendricks. His wife handmade a few dolls she wanted delivered to less fortunate children and there wasn’t a service to distribute them and so she suggested to him that he create one. So since then, the Marine Corps has been distributing toys to less fortunate children.
Last year, Toys for Tots served around 9,200 children and this year expect the need to be even greater with COVID. They anticipate they will need toys for more than 10,000 kids. The Marine Corps has been collecting since October, and as soon as they receive a request they fulfill the need.
You can help by bringing a new, unwrapped toy to any of the collection bins located at the mall entrances or in Hallmark. The Pueblo Mall will be collecting toys from now through December 18.
