PUEBLO — Saturday, Puebloans did their part to help stop illegal dumping.

The Pueblo Dept. of Public Health and Environment held an electric waste recycling event.

The purpose of the event was to get rid of the hard to legally dump items like TVs, computers, and other electronics.

"It is important to have this event just because these items are showing up on our streets. They are showing up on people's properties and by allowing people to bring these items to this event today, not only is it deviating from illegal dumping, but it is also deviating from items landing in the landfill," Audra LeTurgez with the Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment said.

If you missed the event Saturday, the department has more information on its website about how to get rid of electrical waste.

Around 35,000 pounds of waste was collected during the event.
