EL PASO COUNTY — An El Paso County jury has found Tyler Lee Wheeler guilty of first degree murder for the October 2018 killing of Kenyatta Horne in Security-Widefield.

Wheeler is one of four defendants arrested in the weeks after the killing in the Lorson Ranch neighborhood. According to court documents, the group planned on robbing drug dealers of their product and cash. As the four suspects approached Horne, there was a gunfight in which Horne fired several times as he was hit in the chest with shotgun blasts. He died on the sidewalk.

Wheeler will be sentenced in January.

Wayne TC Sellers was found guilty of first degree murder, aggravated robbery, attempted aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery in association with the killing of Kenyatta Horne.

Codefendant Beslim Torres-Valle pleaded guilty to Second Degree Murder and faces up to 46 years in prison.

Another suspect, Kyle Watts is awaiting trial.
