COLORADO SPRINGS — Hair salons and barber shops are businesses many wish were classified essential during COVID-19 restrictions. “So many of my clients are calling me, ‘are you doing any garage cuts?,’ absolutely not,” said Stylist and Honey Salon & Spa Owner, Fania Samora. The only haircuts she is giving are to her husband and kids.

At her business Honey Salon and Spa she says, “We’re completely shut-down.” Eateries on her same street in downtown Colorado Springs are able to create some cash flow with take-out and delivery order. For a salon there is now business as long as the COVID-19 restrictions continue.

Samora’s business, so far, is able to ride out the crisis. She and her partners set aside some savings and the business could qualify for assistance programs.

There is also the popular salon’s many loyal clients dealing with hair showing the results of weeks without a visit to their stylist. “Once we get back into full swing of things it's going to be insane,” said Samora. Even if restrictions lift in a couple weeks, getting an appointment with your hair pro could take weeks longer.

Some may also be needing extra attention. The writer of this article decided to try a DIY haircut. A fix by Fania may need to happen. (See the attached video link.)
