PUEBLO — Pueblo City Officials have approved Pueblo's Voluntary Demolition Program.

The Housing and Citizen Services Department began its voluntary program with the goal of helping low to middle-income neighborhoods eliminate homes or other structures that are considered unpleasant in the community.

Pueblo City Officials hope to help put an end to squatters and improve the neighborhoods.

"Blighted properties affect a neighborhood drastically," said Bryan Gallagher, Director of Housing and Citizen Services in Pueblo. "Crime increases just by its presence, and the faster that we can address an issue, the better everyone in the neighborhood feels."
