WIDEFIELD — The El Paso County Sheriff's Office reported late Tuesday night that a 14-year-old shot an 18-year-old in the Widefield area.
The incident happened on Caballero Avenue, in a neighborhood west of Fountain Mesa Road, at around 9:45 p.m.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they located an individual with an apparent gunshot wound and rendered aid until medical personnel arrived. The individual was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The suspect fled the scene and evaded officers throughout the night and the morning.
Just after 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, the Sheriff's Office reported that the teen suspect was located and taken into custody without incident. He is facing an Attempted Murder 1 charge and a Prohibited Use of a Weapon charge.
As the suspect is a juvenile, no further information will be released.
