EL PASO COUNTY — One of two suspects who were arrested last week following a lengthy vehicle chase that resulted in multiple crashes is now facing more charges.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office arrested 31-year-old Caleb Miles and 19-year-old Brooke Macklin on Oct. 18.

The department announced Friday that Miles has five additional charges as a result of their investigation.

According to the Sheriff's Office, dispatch received a call around 12:45 p.m. on Oct. 18 for someone siphoning gas at the Safeway store on McLaughlin Road in Falcon.

The person reporting the crime knew the suspects as did responding deputies. The Sheriff's Office said the two suspects were also suspects in other crimes throughout El Paso County.

A short time later, the vehicle the suspects were in was confirmed as stolen and a pursuit began. The pursuit traveled around eastern El Paso County before it entered Colorado Springs city limits.

At the time, the suspects were traveling on the wrong side of the road, crossing medians, and running stop signs, according to EPCSO.

A deputy hit the suspects' vehicle at Austin Bluffs Parkway and Barnes Road in an attempt to stop the vehicle, but the suspects were able to get away from the deputy.

The suspects struck several other vehicles at this time. Another deputy attempted to disable the suspects' vehicle at Siferd Boulevard, but the suspects were again able to escape.

At the intersection of Austin Bluffs Parkway and Academy Boulevard, the suspects ran a red light and hit several vehicles. The suspects' vehicle was disabled after this crash and they were both taken into custody.

The EPCSO said that four deputy vehicles were hit during the chase and one deputy was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Miles is now facing Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft, False Imprisonment, two counts of Reckless Driving, and Domestic Violence charges.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Miles had active warrants for numerous charges, including Felony Vehicular Eluding, Theft, Obstruction, Criminal Mischief, Driving Under Restraint, License Plate Violations, Motor Vehicle Theft (Multiple Counts), Criminal Trespass, and Violation of Bail Bond Conditions.

Macklin had an active Failure to Comply warrant.

Deputies are still investigating this incident.
