Suspect in Cimarron Hills car break-ins arrested on numerous charges

EL PASO COUNTY — A suspect has been arrested by the El Paso County Sheriff's office in connection to multiple car break-ins, from May 5th to June 5th, in the Cimmaron Hills area of Colorado Springs.

22-year-old Nicholas Bridgeford was arrested on Friday for numerous charges that include First Degree Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft Less than $20K, Theft over $750 but Less than $2K, 2nd Degree Burglary, and Motor Vehicle Theft $20K or Less.

Investigators believe that the initially, one vehicle was stolen after the keys where left in the center console. The suspects then used the stolen vehicle to conduct a crime spree involving breaking into numerous vehicles in the same neighborhood during that month span.

EPCSO says the suspects used approximately 12 credit/debit cards to commit fraud by using them at various stores after stealing them.

Investigators believe that Bridgeford is not the only suspect in this case and continues to actively investigate all 21 reported cases have been tied to this suspect.

EPCSO's Criminal Intelligence Unit has identified additional persons of interest.
