Suspect identified in attempted carjacking of elderly couple

COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Police Department has made an arrest in an attempted carjacking involving an elderly couple at a Walmart parking lot.

CSPD identified the suspect as 21-year-old Kaleb Ryan Miles in the attempted carjacking that happened on Oct. 15.

The elderly couple was in the Walmart parking lot at 1725 North Union Blvd. when the armed suspect approached them.

Officers said the suspect was dressed in dark clothing and had a shotgun when he went up to the couple and "demanded the keys to their vehicle."

The suspect then fired one shot into the rear bumper of their car when they refused and left the lot.

CSPD said Miles was charged with Attempted Aggravated Robbery and Crimes Against at Risk Persons .

He has been in custody since Oct. 18 after a car chase.
