OTERO COUNTY — Someone in Otero County may have overestimated the abilities of their off-road vehicle Wednesday.

According to the Otero County Sheriff's Office, a Colorado State Patrol Hazmat crew had to respond Wednesday to pull a jeep out of the Arkansas River.

The Sheriff's Office said fortunately no one was hurt and no hazardous materials leaked into the river.

The Sheriff's Office added that they don't want anyone to drown and asked that folks please stay out of the Arkansas River when the water is high.
