Colorado Springs Police make arrest in connection to January death

COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Police Department has made an arrest in connection to a deceased man that was discovered behind the Deerfield Hills Community Center on Jan. 11.

The man who's body was discovered behind the community center has been identified as 19-year-old Senovio Medina of Colorado Springs.

CSPD said detectives had been investigating the circumstances of the death since it was first reported on the 11th. That investigation led to the arrest of 19-year-old Ernesto Magallan-Archuleta of Colorado Springs.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Magallan-Archuleta for the charges of Manslaughter and Assault in the First Degree. He was served with the warrant on Friday, Feb. 14 at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center, where he remains in custody, police said.

According to CSPD, the investigation of Medina's death is included in the city's total of six homicide investigations so far in 2020. The department had investigated two homicides at this time last year.
