Springs police investigating attempted robbery that led to shooting

COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado Springs police said a man was shot late Tuesday night in an attempted robbery near Mitchell High School.

Officers said it happened around 11:28 p.m. when a witness told police a Hispanic man asked the victim for money in the 1300 block of Potter Drive. When he refused, the witness said the suspect pulled a gun and shot the victim.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and released later that night. The suspect, who was also seen with a white male and white female, ran away from the scene. Police do not have any other information about the suspect or the two people that were with him.
