It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Thursday night a group of student-athletes made a special gesture of support for a member of their family.
A local mother who is battling the disease received several gifts in a special presentation ceremony at Pine Creek High School.
Gifts for Maria Cross included a wreath, blanket, and gift basket, and couldn't help feeling emotional.
"It means everything. I've had such a great outpouring of love from my friends and family, it helps me get through it. It really does," she said.
Maria had two student-athletes graduate from Pine Creek.
She was diagnosed in June.
The ceremony also included reading names of loved ones who have fought breast cancer.
