FALCON — A local military hero now has a portion of a highway renamed in his honor.

Highway 24, between Elebert Road and Falcon, is now "Sergeant Major James Gregory Ryan Sartor Memorial Highway."

The Special Forces Green Beret lost his life in Afghanistan.

"'This is an extreme honor because all our friends, our community, and our state representatives, all came together to make it happen and to honor him,'' said Deanna Sartor, the widow of the former Falcon resident.

During the dedication, one soldier said that Green Berets looked up to Sartor.

Sartor left behind a wife and three children.
