Southern Colorado-area events celebrating Veterans Day

COLORADO SPRINGS — We've rounded up a list of some local events happening this weekend to honor and celebrate Veterans Day as well as some deals you can snag.

Government information:

  • All local, city, county, state, and federal government offices are closed Monday to honor Veterans Day. This also means there will be no mail service Monday.
  • Mountain Metro Buses will run on their regular schedule Monday.
  • All Pikes Peak Library District branches will be open Monday.
  • Colorado Parks - Free entry to all state parks for military and veterans.
  • Pikes Peak - America's Mountain is pleased to offer free admission for all that have served including retired and active duty military with ID.

Colorado Springs

Veterans Appreciation Breakfast. Doors open 8 a.m. Breakfast served until 9, program starts at 9.
Where: Briargate YMCA. 4025 Family Place.
When: Friday, Nov. 8
Veterans, retirees, active duty military and their families are welcome to attend and veterans are encouraged to wear their service uniforms and hats.

Free concert with 4th Infantry Div Band from Fort Carson
Where: Immanuel Lutheran Church, 46 East Pikes Peak Ave., at 3 p.m.
When: Sunday, Nov. 10

Veterans Day at PPNC
Where: Memorial Park at 11 a.m. Event moves to DAV Chapter 26 at Peterson Road & Palmer Park in case of inclement weather.
When: Monday, Nov. 11

Fountain

Flag raising and free breakfast
Where: American Legion Post 38 at 8 a.m.
When: Monday, Nov. 11

Ceremony with Mayor Gabriel Ortega
Where: Veterans Memorial Site at 10 a.m. with lunch afterward
When: Monday, Nov. 11

Pueblo

Military Weekend
Where: Pueblo Zoo
When: All weekend long
Free admission for all military (with valid military ID) and their family (Includes spouse and children)

Veterans Day Parade
Where: Downtown Pueblo Historic District at 10 a.m.
When: Saturday, Nov. 9

Deals:

  • AMC Theaters offering free large popcorn all weekend with valid military I.D.
  • Dunkin' offering free donut on Veterans Day to veterans and active duty military
  • Active military and veterans can get BOGO burrito, bowl, salad or tacos on Veterans Day with valid I.D.
