EL PASO COUNTY — UPDATED:

Sunday is the last day to support the 'Souper Bowl of Caring' food drive in Black Forest. Folks at the Black Forest Brewing Company say they've received a lot of support so far, and they will be weighing all their food donations on Monday before they drop them off!

If you're looking for a way to give something back to the community for the Super Bowl, there is a food drive happening in Black Forest to help support their year-round community food pantry.

This food drive is called the "Souper Bowl of Caring," and Black Forest Brewing Company started participating last year. During that drive they collected 300-400 lbs of food for Black Forest Cares, a food pantry housed inside the Black Forest Lutheran Church facility. Now, Black Forest Brewing is hoping to repeat, if not exceed, that same goal this year!

Right now, the brewery is collecting canned goods and any non-perishable items. They are located at 11590 Black Forest Rd #50, Colorado Springs, CO 80908.

You can swing by during regular business hours (listed below), and they have boxes set up where you can drop off those donations.

Black Forest Brewing Company's hours of operation:
Friday 11AM–10PM
Saturday 11AM–10PM
Sunday 11AM–8PM
Monday 11AM–9PM
Tuesday 11AM–9PM
Wednesday 11AM–9PM
Thursday 11AM–10PM

Black Forest Brewing is continuing this drive through the Super Bowl, and then they will drop off all donations to Black Forest Cares. Black Forest Brewing Company opened three years ago and the owner, Donovan Routsis, tells News5 it was important for him to find ways to give back to the community - especially during difficult times like these.

"With COVID going on and so many people out of work, everybody's looking for food, especially," he explained. "So, folks that can support, we're asking them to bring cans in, boxes and we'll actually transport it up to the food pantry."

The Black Forest Cares food pantry provides food to people in the community whose budgets don't stretch to meet their needs, or for families who find themselves faced with unexpected bills and expenses. Black Forest Cares helps more than 600 families, or nearly two thousand individuals each year.

Crossfit Rail Stop in Falcon is also accepting donations for Black Forest Cares as part of this food drive. They are located at 10610 Maltese Point, Peyton, CO 80831.
