Slow and steady wins the race. This common phrase can be applied to both driving conditions to ski areas this weekend and our snowpack this year.
In the past 48 hours, several ski areas have picked up some snow, generally less than 6 inches. Another inch or two or two of snow is expected widespread in the high country from Friday night into Saturday morning.
This next storm won't be terribly exciting for avid skiers, but we will take what we can get! You will likely encounter the worst conditions along I-25 through the day Saturday. Snow is more likely from Trinidad to Colorado Springs during this event. Once you make it past the continental divide, expect drier conditions and better visibility. The best travel times will be Friday into early Saturday and Sunday.
Temperatures will be cold in the mountains this weekend, with highs staying below freezing. Clouds on Saturday will make it feel especially chilly.
