Sheriff's Office names Person of Interest in Suspicious Death Case in Manitou Springs

MANITOU SPRINGS — Update: 5/14/20 8:10 p.m.

According to a release from the El Paso County Sheriff's office, Bobby Joe Berry has been named as a Person of Interest in Suspicious Death Case in Manitou Springs

The 43-year-old is described as a white male, 6’01”, 160 pounds, brown hair and blue eyes.

Berry does not have a known associated vehicle, but license plates from the deceased party’s vehicle are missing, Colorado license plate, 472-VGK.

Berry possibly has friends in the Dallas, Texas and Borger, Texas areas. If seen, please be vigilant and do not approach, he is considered armed and dangerous

Wednesday afternoon, Manitou Springs Police were dispatched on a welfare check to a residence on El Paso Blvd. in Manitou.

When officers arrived, they found a deceased man inside the home.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, Manitou Springs Police determined the circumstances surrounding the death to be suspicious and requested the assistance of the El Paso County Investigtions Division.

The Sheriff's Office said there is no threat to the community.

The identity of the victim will not be released until positive identification has been made by the Coroner's Office and the next of kin has been notified.
