EL PASO COUNTY — The Colorado State Patrol says one person died in a crash Wednesday morning on Highway 94 in eastern El Paso County.

CSP reports the crash involved two-vehicles and happened around 4:50 a.m. about one mile east of Ellicott near the intersection of Highway 94 and Ellicott Road.

A trooper tells News5 one victim died at the scene and the other driver was not injured. CSP also said one of the vehicles involved in the crash caught fire.

The preliminary report says the unidentified driver of the Cadillac CTS was heading east in the westbound lanes when he collided with an International Truck.

27-year-old Levi Nily of Yoder was behind the wheel of the truck. He was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

The highway was closed until 10:32 a.m., when CDOT announced it was reopened between N. Baggett Road and Calhan Highway.
