PIKES PEAK REGION — The Pikes Peak Office of Emergency Management wants to remind you that September is National Preparedness Month.

Even though we rarely see the need for mass evacuations like the ones in the path of Hurricane Dorian, the office says now is the time to prepare for the worst.

"Having copies of their financial documents, knowing what their insurance coverage actually covers, maybe having a little cash available to you should you have to evacuate or not be able to return to your home," said O.E.M Coordinator, Tobi Blanchard.

The Office of Emergency Management offers several free training classes and they're tragetting different issues throughout the month of September.
