PUEBLO — The Salvation Army is helping Pueblo students in need.
The organization gave away around 300 backpacks Tuesday and also books. Students of all ages were able to pick up supplies.
Several staff members from Central High School were on hand and said the backpacks will be put to good use.
"It is great they are excited about it. Most of them get new backpacks because most of them don't have them so they have new backpacks and new supplies to start them out and there are also other supplies to help them out," said community advocate, Shirely Arriaga.
Students start the school year at Pueblo D-60 next Tuesday and D-70 started classes Monday.
