Resurfacing work on Union Blvd. begins January 2

COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado Springs Utilities and the City of Colorado Springs are partnering on infrastructure improvements on North Union Blvd. from Academy Blvd. to Woodmen Rd.

Utility infrastructure improvements, paving and resurfacing work will begin on January 2 and continue through Fall 2020.

Starting January 2, work will occur at two locations on North Union Blvd., which will cause significant traffic impacts.

From Academy Boulevard to Del Paz Drive: All northbound lanes will be closed from 8 p.m.-5 a.m., one northbound lane will reopen after 5 a.m. This work will take approximately 3 weeks to complete and is weather dependent.

From Woodland Hills Drive to Dublin Boulevard: Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Access to and from Deliverance Drive from Union will be completely blocked in both directions for construction work during the day.

Throughout the project, speeds on Union Blvd. will be reduced to 35 mph with doubles fines posted.
