FREMONT COUNTY — Rafting season is official open in Fremont County!

On Friday, the rafting season had its opening day due to the county's variance being approved by the state on Thursday.

One rafting company, Royal George, is open and taking new COVID-19 precautions like spacing people out on the bus and limiting raft space to people in their own parties or accommodating to people's requests with who they want on the raft with them.

"I know the business will take as much precaution as they can and they expressed that to me as much as possible that they are going to make sure we are safe," said Trevor Emond, a Pueblo West resident. "The guides are safe and it is safe for us to be out there in the water, so i have no concerns at all."

After the ride is over, Royal George is having riders leave their equipment in the boat.

Workers will then power wash the boat and equipment, which won't be used for three days.
