Pueblo puppy recovering after being thrown by intoxicated man

PUEBLO — A seven-week-old lab mix puppy is recovering after being thrown against a vehicle this weekend in Pueblo.

The crime happened Saturday in Pueblo.

The man who is accused of the abuse was issued a citation for Animal Cruelty by Pueblo Police.

Fortunately, the puppy doesn't appear to have any significant injuries and is being held a the Pueblo Animals Shelter for observation.

Police said the suspect is facing serious consequences.

"Pretty hefty fine. There could be certainly a jail sentence imposed, but really it's up to the judge to make that determination," said Animal Law Enforcement officer, Lindsey Vigna.

A lot of people have already expressed interest in adopting the puppy, who has yet to be named.
