PUEBLO — Pueblo Police Department identified a male suspect in connection with a possible armed robbery that happened early Thursday morning near W. Highway 50.

Pueblo Police Captain Tom Rummel tweeted a photo of 39-year-old William Manzanares who "appears to have been the driver" that stole the vehicle.

Rummel said a man who was sleeping in his car had his car stolen just after midnight Thursday after he was woken up by someone knocking on his window holding a flashlight and telling him to get out of his car.

According to Rummel, one of his officers contacted the man who said he believed the flashlight was a gun at the time.

The officer, who was on patrol, saw a vehicle matching the description and tried to stop the car. Rummel said the driver sped off and "a pursuit ensued."

The officer lost sight of the vehicle during the chase and found it again crashed into a front yard. Rummel said the officer saw someone flee from the car and found a "shoeless female sitting on the porch of a nearby residence."

Police said when the officer approached the woman, she told him the home belonged to her cousin. The homeowner told the officer she did not know the female. Officers said they later found a pair of shoes behind the house where the car crashed and they believe they belong to the woman.

Police have a no-bond arrest warrant on Manzanares and ask the public to call the department at (719) 553-2502 if they have any information on his whereabouts.
