PUEBLO — It's Puffer Week in Pueblo and police are creating awareness in a unique way.

It's the time of year when people start heating up their vehicles and leaving them unattended.

"It attracts thieves, they see the puffing smoke and they are going to jump in your car and they are going to take it. If you lock your doors they are going to break your windows and still steal your car," Sgt. Franklyn Ortega said.

To promote Puffer Week, Pueblo Police are having a selfie contest and asking people in Pueblo to take a selfie of themselves warming up their cars and not leaving them unattended.

If you want to participate, send your photo in a message to the Pueblo Police Facebook page. The deadline is this coming Saturday at 5 p.m.
