PUEBLO — According to the Pueblo County Sheriff's office, a Pueblo man has been arrested after driving his truck into a concrete post on the Colorado State University-Pueblo campus that left a child seriously injured.

27-year-old Keanu T. Valdez was arrested for vehicular assault, leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury, DUI, child abuse, criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, reckless driving and resisting arrest.

Valdez has been booked into the Pueblo County Jail.

Investigators believe alcohol & speed were factors in the crash.

The crash took place last Tuesday night on Bartley Boulevard, near the CSU-Pueblo ball fields.

When police got on scene, deputies were unable to immediately locate any occupants of the Ford F-150 that had received serious damage.

Pueblo Police were able to locate Valdez and his four-year-old son nearby in a gulley just east of the intersection of Troy Avenue and Massari Road.

Valdez was then taken into custody, while his son was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

He was later transported to a Colorado Springs hospital for further treatment of his injuries.
