Pueblo Fire getting some extra help

PUEBLO — Pueblo Fire and Parkview Medical are teaming up to help first responders handle emergency calls.

Parkview will be providing a behavioral specialist to the fire department's "Delivering Others to Services" team or "DOTS" team.

The team helps people on emergency calls who are struggling with mental health issues or if they need a ride to get their medication.

"I feel that we are going to identify what Pueblo needs as a community and we will be able to get more of those resources here," Chief Barbara Huber said.

Firefighters who come in on their days off also help with DOTS.
