PUEBLO — A birthday shout out to the Steel City. Pueblo celebrated 50 years as a city Friday night.

A birthday bash was held at El Pueblo History Museum to kick off a year of events marking the city's sesquicentennial.

Locals with roots that go back generations came out to be part of the celebration.

One man said his family, like many who still live here, credits Pueblo's steel industry for bringing them to the region three generations ago.

"My grandparents came here a long time ago in the 1800's. My grandfather came to work at the mill, the CF&I, he did that successfully and then my dad and his brothers and most of them I think all of them worked there," said Paul Rusovick.

Pueblo has launched a website dedicated to the city's 150th anniversary where you can find all the information about the celebrations planned throughout the year.
