PUEBLO — The Pueblo Regional Bomb Squad now has a state-of-the-art tool to help on emergency calls.

They received a $300,000 federal grant to buy the new Telemax Robot.

During a demonstration Friday at the State Fair Events Center, technicians showed how the robot can climb stairs and find small, hidden objects.

They say the new model is more versatile than their old bomb robot.

"These are actually designed to be able to go up and down the aisles of airplanes," said Sgt. Dustin Taylor. "The height on this arm actually can go up over 7 feet and they are actually designed to reach up into the overhead compartments of airplanes."

The old bomb robot is now 14 years old, and the vendor has stopped making replacement parts for it.
