COLORADO SPRINGS — Preparations are underway for a multi-million dollar group of construction projects around Fort Carson, South Academy, and Schriever Air Force Base.
Crews will be making safety improvements form I-25 at the Santa Fe exit north to the South Academy exit. They'll also widen South Academy, along with Charter Oak Ranch Road off the Interstate.
Near Schriever AFB, there are plans for improvements on Highway 94 from Highway 24 to Enoch.
The project is expected to continue into 2023.
Right now prep work is ongoing, and drivers will start to see lane closures on I-25 in the Fountain area starting the week of May 4.
The $159 million to complete the work comes from CDOT, El Paso County taxpayers, Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority, and a federal grant.
