Police investigating fatal shooting at The Haven apartment complex

COLORADO SPRINGS — Just after noon on Tuesday, Colorado Springs Police officers responded to the 900 block of Teal Court on a reported shooting.

The Haven apartment complex is located at this address.

When officers arrived at the apartment complex, the found a deceased adult male inside an apartment. An adult female was also detained at the scene.

That female has been identified as 30-year-old Erica Arellano.

Detectives from CSPD's Homicide/Assault Unit responded to the scene and took responsibility for the investigation.

CSPD said the investigation led detectives to obtain an arrest warrant for Arellano for the charge of Murder in the Second Degree. She was then taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

Wednesday, the El Paso County Coroner's Office completed an autopsy on the deceased male. He has been identified as 41-year-old Marcus Hardin of Colorado Springs.

According to CSPD, Hardin's death is the second homicide investigation in Colorado Springs in 2020.
