Police identify victim killed at Colorado Springs apartments

COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado Springs police said a 38-year-old man was killed on October 1 night on the east side of the city.

Around 7:15 p.m. officers responded to the Westview Apartments near South Academy and Airport. Officers found two people with gunshot wounds and performed life-saving measures on one of the victims before they died at the hospital about one hour later.

The coroner's office has identified the man who was killed as 38-year-old Jerome Nelson.

This death is the 27th homicide investigation in Colorado Springs this year. CSPD investigated 17 homicides at this time last year.
