Police identify man who died following shooting at Colorado Springs bar

COLORADO SPRINGS — The man who died following a shooting at a Colorado Springs bar last Thursday has been identified by authorities.

The Colorado Springs Police Department said officers responded to Peak Tavern for a shooting around 1:30 a.m. Thursday where they found a man with a gunshot would. He was identified 32-year-old Abraham Parsons by the El Paso County Coroner's Office after he died at the hospital as a result of his injuries.

The department said its Homicide/Assault Unit took over the investigation and later received an arrest warrant for 26-year-old Joshua Martinez-Torres on the charge of murder in the first degree. He is currently in custody at the El Paso County Jail.

This investigation remains active and is being investigated as a homicide. Parson’s death is the 35th homicide investigation in Colorado Springs this year. At this time last year, the department investigated 24 homicides.
