FOUNTAIN — The Fountain Police Department arrested a man who broke into a home after running from police when they received a 911 text from a 14-year-old.

Police say they were near Fountain Mesa Road and Ancestra Drive when they tried talking to a man, who is identified as 20-year-old Davijo Velarde, walking in the area. When they tried to communicate with him, police said he ran away.

Police searched for the suspect and received a call from a resident saying someone knocked on her front door. FPD said that man matched the description of Velarde, so they went to where he was last seen and found a truck crashed into the side of a garage in the 500 block of Avenida Del Cielo.

No one was injured in that home.

FPD was notified of a 911 text sent from a home in the 400 block of Avenida Del Cielo saying a man had broken into the home.

Police responded and were able to get two juveniles safely out of the home from a front bedroom window.

Officers found the suspect and were able to get him out of the home to arrest him.

Velarde has been charged with Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft and Second-Degree Burglary. He has also been charged with several misdemeanors.
